The January 2020 eruption of Taal Volcano has affected thousands of families after its initial eruption on January 12. With Philvocs volcanic eruption alert status raised to level 4, MGB CALABARZON had coordinated with the quarry operators in the region, for assistance in the evacuation of affected communities surrounding Taal Lake. Relief Operations were conducted to extend assistance to Taal Volcano eruption evacuees in coordination with RCBMI-Batangas, members of Eastern Rizal Miners Association (ERMA) and Montalban Aggregate Producers Association (MAPA).

On January 18, 2020, MGB Region 5 Personnel together with Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) Director of the Board and Secretary, Mr. Louie Sarmiento turned over the Mobile Water Filtration System to MGB IV CALABARZON in order to aid and provide drinking water to Taal Volcano eruption evacuees in Batangas.

975 5-liter PET bottles of purified drinking water were distributed to Batangas City Rescue and Relief Operations Center, San Isidro Elementary School, San Isidro Brgy. Hall, Tabangao Iplaya Elementary School, Pagkakilatan Brgy. Hall, Ilijan Brgy. Hall, Bgry. Tinga Itaas, and Brgy. Soro-soro Ilaya. In addition, the team went around barangays San Isidro, Tabangao, and Ilijan to refill the empty water bottles and containers of the evacuees. The operation was terminated on February 3, 2020, upon coordination with PGENRO-Batangas informing the team that the evacuees are already returning to their homes.
