“Truly, the work of a miner does not begin and end in the mine.”

A fitting close from Engr. Nonita S. Caguioa, Assistant Secretary for Finance, Information Systems and Mining Concerns, to wrap up the two-day well-attended virtual Stakeholder’s Forum, wherein transformative plans in elevating the nationwide mission of responsible mining and sustainable development were brought to the table.

Dubbed as “Know MINE, Know LIFE: Elevating the Mission of Responsible Mining”, the insightful Forum held via Zoom and Facebook Live on 10-11 February 2022, gathered together stakeholders which include, amongst others, mining companies, national and local government bodies, environmental groups/advocates, media partners, academic institutions, and civil society organizations.

Nine recipients of CY 2021 Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award were given a platform to highlight their best practices, strategic directions, and uplifting accomplishments. The salient features of most recent mining policies and development in the minerals sector were also discussed by esteemed speakers.

To convey the foregoing to a wide multi-sectoral audience, a series of regional stakeholder’s forum will be conducted by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Offices to sustain the momentum on reinforcing the links with stakeholders and to beef up endeavors to promote the #MineResponsibility campaign.

The successful undertaking was spearheaded by the MGB Central Office, through its Mineral Economics, Information and Publication Division, with MGB CALABARZON and MIMAROPA Regions’ active involvement.
