The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office No. IV (CALABARZON) was one of the participating agencies of the Phase II of Legal Information System (LegIS) Data Migration Training on November 18-22, 2019 in Baguio City. The Office was represented by its Mining Tenement Evaluation Section (MTES) Chief, the Mining Claims Examiner and the Information Technology Specialist.
The objective of the five-day seminar was to orient the attendees about the LegIS Management Portal along with the LegIS Online Reporting System, which both make up the central information system of the MGB. This will be used to manage and monitor the statuses of cases, download pleadings, add and update cases and pleadings, and supply the public with real-time information on all cases filed before the regional panel of arbitrators. The LegIS Management Portal will be able to narrow down data by office, level, complainant, and respondent to see a more detailed perspective of all cases. The LegIS Public Portal will be available in the MGB website.
With this, the seminar began with the discussion about the In-House Development Process of the LegIS Project, and followed by a workshop on Mines Adjudication Board (MAB)/Panel of Arbitrators Presentation/Consultation, conducted with the Information Services Group and Legal Service Division (LSD) Staff.
The initial launching of the LegIS was done on the third day, shortly followed by the discussion about the program perspective and system aspect of the project. In the latter part of the entire seminar, a Proposed LegIS Enhancement for 2021 was presented and deliberated upon, and later settled on the last day.
