The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region IV CALABARZON together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IVA (CALABARZON) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) conducted a river cleanup along the Zapote River in Brgy. Ligas 3, Bacoor, Cavite on March 31, 2019. In line with the government’s thrust to rehabilitate the Manila Bay, namely the “Battle for Manila Bay,” this was one of the Simultaneous Clean Up Activities in areas where the Manila Bay flows – Cavite, Las Pinas, Navotas, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Bataan.

Volunteers and residents from the area, and employees of the DENR and other government agencies alike, including the local government unit gathered in front of the Ligas III barangay hall to march together to the portion of Zapote River near the barangay to start the clean-up efforts.

Other than the Simultaneous Clean Up Activities, the local government units surrounding the Manila Bay are obliged to perform weekly clean-ups in their respective areas for the acceleration of the rehabilitation and maintenance.
