The Mines and Geosciences Bureau IV CALABARZON hosted the Capacity Building Seminar on the Standardized Checklist for the Monitoring of Tenements and Safety and Health, Environment, and Social Development Programs for the Luzon Cluster on April 10 – 13, 2018 at the Hotel Rembrandt, Quezon City.
Mines and Geosciences Bureau Central Office’s Mine Safety, Environment, and Social Development Division (MSESDD) and Mining Tenements Management Division (MTMD) conducted the seminar for the Luzon Cluster. The Capacity Building was attended by representatives from the MSESDD and Mine Management Division (MMD) of the different MGB regional offices from Luzon, namely Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), I, II, III, IV CALABARZON, MIMAROPA Region, and V.
The seminar aims to standardize the evaluation of Exploration Work Program, Three Year Development / Utilization Work Program, Annual Safety and Health Program, Environmental Work Program, Community Development Program, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program, Social Development and Management Program, Final Mine Rehabilitation and/or Decommissioning Plan, Care and Maintenance Program, and the Monitoring Checklist and Scorecard through coming up with factors and measurements in the monitoring of mining operations’ compliance.
The Monitoring Checklist and Scorecard will be used in evaluating mining companies’ compliance to standards in tenements, safety and health, environment, and social development.
