The Mines and Geosciences Bureau IV CALABARZON hosted the Capacity Building for MGB Personnel in the CENRO and PENRO for Luzon Cluster on February 19 – 21, 2018 at the Sequoia Hotel, Diliman, Quezon City. The three-day event, which aims to enable the newly hired personnel to perform their jobs competently, was attended by Local Government Officials, Provincial and City Environment and Natural Resources Officers and the MGB Embedded Personnel.

The first day of the training began with a Pre – Training Assessment for the MGB Embedded Personnel. The 20-minute examination given aims to assess their competency regarding DENR and MGB, Mining Laws, Environmental Laws, Mining Operations, etc. After the Pre – Training Assessment, Engr. Samuel T. Paragas, Regional Director – MGB IV CALABARZON, gave his welcome remarks, while Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano, Director – Mines and Geosciences Bureau, gave the opening message to the participants. Lectures about the DENR and MGB, Mining Operations, Mining Laws, Small – Scale Mining, and the Industry Status were given by the MGB Central Office engrossed the first day of the training.

A Field Orientation/Training was scheduled for the second day. The PENRO Office of Rizal was the first stop of the trip. It was then followed by the Mine Visit to the Solid Cement Corporation, Antipolo City, Rizal. The DENR Checkpoint was the last stop of the trip.

The last day of the training’s discussion include: Environmental Laws, Mineral Reservation Project, Geoscience Development Service, Indigenous Peoples Rights Act, Responsibilities/Duties of the MGB Embedded Personnel at the CENRO/PENRO, and Mining Issues and Concerns. Before the three-day event ended, a Post – Training Assessment was conducted, followed by the Awarding of Certificates to the Embedded MGB Personnel.
