Conforming with the 2022 Women’s Month Celebration, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau IV CALABARZON connducted a two (2) day Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on Gender and Development (GAD) entitled Mainstreaming Gender And Development Key to Effective Communal Partnership on March 30-31, 2022.

The activity, organized in collaboration with VIL Mines, Inc., was conducted in Mount Sea Resort, Rosario, Cavite. Attendees of said event were Barangay Officials, men, women, and Senior Citizens of Rosario, Cavite. Lectures discussed include the Gender Sensitivity Training, RA 10354: Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012, the Social Development and Management Program, Salient Points of Section 134 of DAO 2010-21, highlights of the approved Annual SDMP of VIL Mines, Inc., and Coastal Geohazards.

The workshop is intended to educate the community on the basic concepts relating to GAD, such as the difference between gender and sex, gender roles and sex roles, gender needs and gaps, non-discriminatory remarks including gender equality and equity. These measures are considered and very vital to empower men and women of all gender, regardless of their preferences in the active participation, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of all policies by being supportive of self-determination for the betterment of the community and its constituents.

The event ended with the open forum wherein participants engaged in an active discussion following the distribution of IEC Materials on Mining 101 and Geohazards from MGB IV CALABARZON.
