The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region IV CALABARZON conducted a 3-day Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) Capacity Building Seminar/Workshop on July 7, 8 and 11, 2022 in the Province of Rizal.  The Capacity Building Seminar aims to harmonize, balance and raise awareness regarding the roles and responsibilities of the Community Relations Officer (CRO’s), Local Government Units (LGU’s) and other stakeholders for sustainable SDMP implementation. Among the stakeholders present were representatives from the academe, youth, women’s organization, Home Owners Association (HOA), Sr. Citizens, Barangay Health Workers and Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

Engr. Anissa Q. Madi, Science Research Specialist – Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division (MSESDD), discussed the Salient Points on Chapter XIV of Sections 134-141 of the Consolidated DENR Administrative Order (CDAO) 2010-21.  She expounded on the credited activities and expenditures under Development of Host and Neighboring Communities (DHNC), Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign and Development of Mining Technology and Geoscience (DMTG).  Meanwhile, Mr. Sonny B. Villar, Chief, Social Development Section – MSESDD, explained the Memorandum Circular No. 2021-006 in re: 2021 SHES Manual and gave emphasis on the duties and responsibilities of the Community Relations Officer (CRO) and the role of the Local Government Units.  Finally, Ms. Monalisa O. Ablang, Community Affairs Officer – MSESDD, discussed the social development reportorial requirements.

The participants actively participated in the open forum. They eagerly shared the information and experiences they encountered in their community. The Barangay LGU’s, CRO’s and stakeholders expressed their sincere appreciation to MGB IV CALABARZON for initiating the capacity building seminar for giving them a better understanding and in-depth awareness on their roles in promoting the interest for sustainable SDMP implementation.
