An Orientation/Workshop on the New Policies of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) was conducted by MGB Central Office and was hosted by MGB IV CALABARZON on July 31 to August 4, 2018 at the Hotel Rembrandt, Quezon City.
The said orientation began with the welcome address given by MGB Director Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano and a message by DENR Asst. Secretary Nonita S. Caguioa. It was attended by the Regional Directors, and Division and Section Chiefs of the Mine Safety, Environment, and Social Development Division (MSESDD) and Mine Management Division (MMD) of all MGB Regional Offices. The orientation/workshop mainly dwelled on the discussion of MGB Memorandum Circular 2018-01 on Guidelines in the Conduct of Apprehension, Seizure, Confiscation and Disposition of illegally Sourced Minerals/Mineral Products and By-Products, Tools, Conveyances and Equipment Used, and MGB Memorandum Circular 2018-02 on Guidelines on Compliance Monitoring and Rating/Scorecard of Mining Permits/Contracts. Ample time was given to the participants to ask clarifications on the said Memorandum Circulars and to fill out sample monitoring checklists and compliance scorecards.
One of the aims of the orientation/workshop is to enforce uniform and proper implementation of laws, rules and regulations, and uniform conduct of monitoring of the compliance of mining permit/contract holders among the different regions.
All the regions are expected to re-echo the same orientation/workshop to their respective MGB embedded personnel, PENROs and CENROs.
