The Mines and Geosciences IV CALABARZON, headed by Socorro P. Hernandez, OIC – Office of the Regional Director, has operationalized the Regional Investigation and Assessment Team (RIAT), composed of representatives from Department of Health IV CALABARZON, Department of Agriculture IV- A CALABARZON, Burau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources IV CALABARZON, Environmental Management Bureau IV CALABARZON, National Irrigation Administration IV CALABARZON, Department of Public Works and Highways IV – A (CALABARZON), Laguna Lake Development Authority, and Provincial Government Representatives of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon on August 10, 2017 at the Hotel H2O, Manila Ocean Park Complex, Luneta, Manila.
Mr. Mark Anthony Perez oriented the participants on the composition and functions of the Contingent Liability and Rehabilitation Fund Steering Committee (CLRFSC) while Mr. Dondi M. Sarmiento discussed the importance and composition of RIAT.
The Regional Investigation and Assessment Team (RIAT) is created to assist the Contingent Liability and Rehabilitation Fund Steering Committee (CLRFSC) in the investigation and assessment of the claims and compensation for damages due to mining or quarry operations, pursuant to Section 198 of DENR Administrative Order No. 2010-21, the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 7942, the “Philippine Mining Act of 1995.” The RIAT shall have the following functions:
- Provide advice to interested parties on matters related to claims for compensation for damages
- Provide applications and other related forms to prospective claimants for damages
- Receive applications for compensation for damage s
- Conduct field investigations and assessments for claims for damages and submit reports to the CLRF Steering Committee through the Technical Working Group
The meeting ended with the signing of the resolution creating the RIAT.
