The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. IV-A (CALABARZON) technical personnel handed over thru the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) headed by Engineer Nelson Singson the nine (9) composite maps of 1:10,000 Landslide and Flood Geohazard Maps of Lucena City, Quezon.
Province last May 18, 2016. An Information Education Campaign (IEC) on Geological Hazards was conducted for the city and barangay officials for the purpose of teaching them on how to read the geohazard maps. The maps serve as effective tools for the local executives, as well as the general public, in planning the appropriate measures to mitigate the effects of rain-induced landslide and flooding in the different areas in Lucena City, specifically flooding.
Moreover, technical personnel of MGB IV-A is currently conducting Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (VRA) in the city to further study the area and improve the knowledge regarding the said geologic hazards within the territorial jurisdiction of the city.
