Burdeos – Five (5) individuals were caught prima facie extracting sand and gravel materials along the river located in Brgy. Poblacion, Burdeos, Quezon during investigation of MGB personnel on May 18, 2017.

Ms. Ma. Lourdes O. Griarte and Engr. Aristeo A. Quindoza of Mines and Geosciences Bureau IV (CALABARZON) conducted investigation and ocular inspection in some shoreline areas and river systems of Burdeos,Polilio Island, Quezon upon receipt of the complaint of Mr. Obren Tan, Vice-Mayor of the said Municipality.

The individuals caught areJenny Lascano-Lustado, Ever Asutilla, Eras Llagas, Samson A. Avila,Erica Avila,and Angelica Avila, three of which were related.

In the same municipality, an evident extraction of alluvial materials was observed along beach shorelines of Bongaitan Islet which showed an estimated 50 sacks of beach sand packed and ready for disposal. According to Mr. Henry Turgo – SB for Environment, the barangay concerned were earlier ordered to return the said materials to its former location.

A Cease and Desist Order dated May 29, 2017 was issued to 5 individuals conducting illegal operation to refrain them from operating without appropriate permit. Meanwhile following the investigation, MGB IV deputized several officials of Burdeos as Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources for Mines to police mining operations within the municipality.
