The MGB staff – Ms. Maria Lourdes Griarte, Engr. Jennica Estepa, and Engr. Philippe Michael Granada, conducted an orientation/seminar on Mining and Environmental Policies of the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations on June 21, 2017 at the Lucena Fresh Air Hotel, Lucena City, Quezon. The Orientation/Workshop focused more on Environmental Laws and Paralegal matters which was hosted by the DENR PENRO Quezon. MGB IV CALABARZON was invited as one of the resource speakers to discuss the Philippine Mining Act and other related policies.

A total of seventy three local government officials of Quezon Province particularly the MENROs, POs, and the Field Personnel attended the said event. Topics discussed in the seminar workshop includes: Introduction of the Mining Industry, Current state of Mining in the Philippines,   Policies on Acquisition of Mining Permits and Contracts, Types of Permits Issued, Major Highlights of the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, highlights of the DENR Administrative Order 2010-21, and the Policies and Procedures on Deputation, Confiscation, Seizure, and Apprehension. The discussion aims to inform and educate the stakeholders about mining, help raise the level of environmental awareness, make them conscious of the consequent and detrimental effects of mining, and help effectuate compliance with environmental controls.
