The MGB IV Team composed of Engr. Aristeo A. Quindoza, Engineer III and Ms. Maria Lourdes O. Griarte, Mining Claims Examiner III conducted lectures/orientation on proper deputation procedures to Local Government Units (LGUs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Quezon, Quezon. Present during the dialogue were the Hon. Mayor Ma. Caridad P. Clacio, MENRO Reywuel V. Escolano and other LGU staff. Barangay Chairmen of nine (9) coastal barangays of the said municipality also participated the said dialogue.
Amongst the major topics include the mining policies, the rules and regulations as provided under DENR Administrative Order (DAO) No. 2010-21, the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of R.A. 7942; and the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of R.A. 7076 under DAO No. 2015-03.
The stages of mining operations, acquisition of mining rights/tenements, mining tenements/permits issued by the National Government, mining permits issued by the Local Government Units (LGU) thru the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board and Environmental and Social Provisions of the Mining Act were part of the subtopics discussed as well as concerns on sand and gravel tax or excise tax for quarry materials.
A total of 22 officials/personnel of the Local Government Units (LGUs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Quezon, Quezon were deputized by MGB IV Regional Director Samuel T. Paragas as Deputies for Environment and Natural Resources. As deputies, they now have the authority to apprehend offenders and confiscate illegally-sourced minerals including tools/equipment and conveyances used in the commission of offense.
