On October 1 – 5, the Mineral Economics, Information, and Publications Division (MEIPD) of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) conducted the Training and Capacity Building for MGB Personnel Responsible for Statistical Data and Analysis, Website Maintenance, and Information Dissemination at the Microtel by Wyndham – UP Technohub, Quezon City. Attendees of the workshop were the Information Officers and Economists of MGB Central and Regional Offices.
Topics in the five-day workshop include the newly issued mining policies : Administrative Order 2018-19 – Guidelines for Additional Environmental Measures for Operating Surface Metallic Mines; Memorandum Circular 2018-01 – Guidelines in the Conduct of Apprehension, Seizure, Confiscation, and Disposition of Illegally sourced Minerals/Mineral Products and By-Products, Tools, Conveyances and Equipment Used; Memorandum Circular 2018-02 – Guidelines for Compliance Monitoring and Rating/Scorecard of Mining Permits/Contracts; Creation of IEC Materials, Media Management, and Basic Writing Techniques.
The workshop was aimed to develop the skills and enhance the abilities of MGB Central and Regional Offices’ Information Officers in writing, media management, media relations, crisis management, and effective audience-specific IEC materials.
