Last May 19, 2017, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau IV CALABARZON staff, headed by RD Socorro P. Hernandez of MGB IV CALABARZON and RD Samuel T. Paragas, assigned Regional Manager of DENR Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD), attended the formal turn-over ceremony of a newly refurbished Isuzu Garbage Truck of Island Quarry & Aggregates Corporation (IQAC) to Barangay Palangoy, Binangonan, Rizal.

The granting of the said garbage truck was done in part with half the funds supplied by the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) of IQAC and the remainder shouldered by the barangay, upon the request of Chairman Cresencio Ojoy. With this, Brgy Chairman Ojoy expresses his heartfelt gratitude toward IQAC. This project aims to help aid in the proper garbage disposal of Barangay Palangoy. The SDMP is used to assist in the development of the host and neighboring communities, primarily on matters concerning infrastructure, health, livelihood, education, and culture. It is computed from 1.5% of the company’s operating cost. For this project, half of the acquisition cost of the garbage truck was from IQAC, while the other half is from Barangay Palangoy, thus consummating a counter-part funding of a community project.

Binangonan is located in the First District of Rizal, and it currently has 40 barangays. The municipality has a total land area of 7,270 hectares. It has a long coast line facing the Laguna de Bay, wherein a thriving fishing industry can be found.
