In support of Angono’s pro-active stance in addressing perennial flooding incidence in low-lying areas of the municipality, Lafarge Republic Aggregates, Incorporated (LRAI) heed the call for a public-private partnership on this important project and readily extends help to the community which has been hosting their quarrying operation for the past six (6) years. On May 19, 2014, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by the LGU led by the Hon. Mayor Gerardo V. Calderon and supported by Municipal Councilors and Barangay Chairmen. The private sector on the other hand was represented by LRAI through its President Mr. Cirilo M. Pestaño together with other company officials. The event was also witnessed by representatives from MGB IV-A through Mr. Dondi M. Sarmiento, OIC ORD and Mr. Sonny B. Villar, Community Affairs Officer (CAO).  The signed agreement would enable LRAI to donate Php. 4,000,000.00 to be utilized in the immediate dredging of about eight kilometres of Angono River. Mayor Calderon said the agreement is a pro-active move of the local government and private groups to counter the effects of rainy season, primarily the swelling of waterways and flooding in low-lying areas. Lafarge Republic Aggregates, Inc. was lauded by the Mayor for their continuing support and thanked them publicly for being a “responsible mining company.”
