The Mines and Geosciences Bureau – Regional Office No. IV conducted orientation and seminar on the Philippine Mining Act of 1991 and other related policies with DENR foresters, forest technicians, forest rangers, PENRO and CENRO within CALABARZON Region, civil society organizations, barangay officials and other technical staff of the DENR – CALABARZON on May 17, 2017 during Para-Legal Seminar at Cloud 9 Hotel and Restaurant, Antipolo City, Rizal.
The discussion on the said topic was divided into two categories: Policies on acquisition of Mining Permits/Agreements/Contracts and the second topic discusses on the environmental provisions of mining. The said dialogue also clarified information on the basic mining process, stages of mining, national and local contribution of mining, areas open to mining applications and types of mining permits/contracts issued by the national and local government, and basic apprehension and confiscation procedures.
Meanwhile, environmental provisions of the DENR Administrative Order No. 2010-21 and its revised implementing rules and regulations was also discussed which were subdivided into several topics that discusses on the environmental protection of every stages of mining, information on the rehabilitation, monitoring and environmental trust fund, environmental protection and enhancement program, social development and management program, and safety and health.
Furthermore, issues and concerns regarding the topics were also clarified especially on the apprehension and illegal mining activities within areas covered by the region.
