On July 4, 2018, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) IV CALABARZON staff attended the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) celebration of its 31st founding anniversary at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Nature Center, Diliman, Quezon City.
One of the activities conducted in the celebration was the 2018 DENR Milenyal ng Kalikasan. DENR employees and attached agencies applauded the participants from DENR Central Office, MGB Central Office, MGB IV CALABARZON, National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), Forest Management Bureau (FMB), DENR RO III, DENR MIMAROPA, DENR Office of the Secretary (OSEC), and Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB). The representative from NAMRIA won the contest.
With the theme, “Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalikasan,” DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu stressed in his Welcome Remarks that everyone is part of the environment and it is everyone’s responsibility to protect and nurture the environment. He also pointed out that it is not the sole responsibility of the government to take care of the environment because it is everyone’s responsibility to protect it from damage. Also, Secretary Roy A. Cimatu gave updates on the ongoing rehabilitation in Boracay.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the celebration as the special guest of honor. After the President’s Message, the President continued on to the DENR’s “Handog Titulo” program where 75 land titles, with a total land area of 5,394 square meters, were awarded to qualified residents from five cities / municipalities in Metro Manila. Previous DENR secretaries also attended the said celebration.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for governing and supervising the exploration, development, utilization, and conservation of the country’s natural resources.
