With a theme “Pistang Pamilyang DENR para sa Tuloy-tuloy na Pagkakaisa at Tagumpay,” the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) celebrated its 35th anniversary last June 10, 2022. The DENR was established on June 10, 1987, through the issuance of EO 192 which reorganized the former Department of Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources (DENR) to the present DENR. The official program began with the interfaith prayer and Thanksgiving Mass at around 8:00 AM. Usec. Ernesto D. Adobo Jr., CESO I, did the welcome remarks which was followed by a short audio visual presentation that highlighted the various programs and achievements of the DENR. Acting Secretary Jim O. Sampulna, CESO I, delivered his message in celebration of the DENR’s anniversary, wherein he mentioned that this year’s celebration should be a “demonstration of the DENR’s continued commitment to the environment and to the Filipinos and that the mission to conserve and protect our natural resources remains despite the challenges we face” after an Introduction for the Secretary by Usec. Jonas R. Leones, CESO I. The morning program was capped by an awarding ceremony for the Recognizing Individuals/institutions Towards Vibrant and Enhanced Rives (R.I.V.E.R.s) for Life Awards program for the DENR Regional Offices with Provincial and Community Environment and Natural Office (PENROs/CENROs) which aims to raise awareness of the need to protect and conserve the rivers in the country.
