The Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region IV-A (CALABARZON) conducted training on standard first aid and basic life support to the small scale miners of Buenavista, Quezon as part of their Information and Education Campaign held on October 21, 2014 at the Municipal Hall of Buenavista, Quezon.

Lectures and hands-on training on the different bandaging techniques for various injuries and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation were given to the participants who came from the different small scale mining sites in the town of Buenavista. The said training, aimed to equip the miners with basic techniques and skills on first aid and life support, is the highlight of the day-long Information Drive of MGB IV-A which includes a quick review on Basic Occupational Safety and Health, Mechanical Safety and the provisions of DAO 2000-98 or the Mine Safety and Health Standards.

Meanwhile, Mayor Remedios U Rivera, through her representative is very thankful of the training facilitated by MGB IV-A to the small scale miners in her town as this will help them raise their awareness on safety procedures and basic life saving techniques.
