MGB IV-A representatives namely Engr. Emilio R. Ramos, Chief of Mine Management Division, Mrs. Socorro P. Hernandez, OIC of Geosciences Division and Engrs. Mark Perez and Jennica C. Estepa, headed by the Regional Director, Engr. Samuel T. Paragas, conducted a dialogue with Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Quezon on September 13, 2016 (Tuesday) in the Office of Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Quezon located in Lucena City.

The dialogue was attended by members of SP namely Hon. Claro M. Talaga, Jr., Hon. Isaias B. Ubana II, Hon. Hermilando J. Alcala Jr., Hon. Rhodora B. Tan, Hon. Ferdinand N. Talabong, Hon. Aileen Resplandor Buan and Hon. Raquel M. Mendoza. (see Photo No. 1)

The dialogue began by RD Paragas expounding the agenda and topic for the meeting. Then, a concise introduction regarding mining and its stages, national government issued mining rights and permits and acquisition of local government issued mining/quarry permits and the environmental provisions of Republic Act No. 7942 otherwise known as the “Philippine Mining Act of 1995” and its implementing rules and regulations were discussed to the SP Board Members by Engrs. Jennica Estepa and Mark Perez. Then, information about geological hazards such as landslide and flooding with reference to the various municipalities of the Province of Quezon was presented during the dialogue. An open forum headed by RD Paragas was done afterwards in order to address the queries and clarifications of the participants.
